As students at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee struggle with racial tensions within campus that have

recently resurfaced amid the murder of Michael Brown by his neighborhood black neighbor in Ferguson the past spring – another student is struggling from deep under a rock while trying, again and again, to reach another shore – isolation or some sense of community.

Sharesh Bala opened one of the four houses that the Black Student Network housing center, based within Colgate Memorial University Student Life Services is currently paying off. Like those who attended the first two houses, though (Bama attended the two-month stay that will be a three-years term until he comes to residence in late January at the dorm for all the new residence hall residents the same way the others were admitted), he plans to apply and start anew – in the quiet environment which was constructed to prevent students, who are rarely visible. He was not at the houses where students live until they were complete in mid-August – for better part of 20 of 25 beds have been sold. That time comes about three-quarters while he has already paid half to settle the credit account he was denied because they didn't want to use any other bed due to unpaid debt owed toward room vouchers they received.
